Astros Fall to Braves
SHAW PARK, MARIETTA, GA - The Mustang Astros came out swinging tonight, scoring a season high 10 runs in their game with the Braves, however their typically stout defense was not there tonight, as the Astros fell to the Braves 15-10. The highlight of the night for the Astros was an inside the park homerun by speedster Jack G. Also of note, Thursday nights game saw the pitching debuts of Jacob L. and Avery K. Both of these pitchers were put in a tough spot coming into a game where their team was already down. "We have 3 games next week, so I really wanted to see a couple of the kids pitch who haven't had the chance to yet this season" stated Coach Mark while trying (unsucessfully) to master the art of turning on the water spigot. "I know it was tough coming into a game where we were already down, but I am proud of our pitchers for not getting down on themselves and not giving up." When asked about Jack G's homerun, Coach Mark stated "When I saw the ball get past the outfielders, with Jack's speed, I knew it was windmill time."
Coach Pat, who we caught up with as he was trying to solve the riddle of "how many coaches does it take to change the Mustang shed lightbulb", was also pleased with the offense tonight - "We definately swung the bats better tonight, but now we need to put it all together with the defense - I was glad to see how much contact we made tonight at the plate." We spoke with Coach Robert, rake in hand around home plate - " Much better at the plate tonight, but our defense struggled a bit.....we'll work on that at practice Friday".
The Astros have a busy week coming up. After field practice Friday night, the will play the undefeated Rangers on Saturday, followed by (3) games next week, including games against both SCRA teams, the Rays and the Braves.
